Yes you could say she is in the "stunner" category and so is worthy of the blog tag "stunners" ..........hence why she is here as Part 12. Shoot Background
I can still see her and this venue as if it was yesterday. The venue was Claridges Hotel on Brook Street in Mayfair, Central London and it was the Ballroom Entrance/Exit which is further down the road from the main entrance where the guests arrive and depart. The photo was taken on 30 June 2015 on a Tuesday at 18:16 and 39 seconds according to the EXIF data. Think I got their about a couple of hours before to get a good spot, there were probably 20 or 30 people waiting for her and the other actors/director which swelled to at least a hundred maybe two or so when they finally came out. They were staying at the hotel and due to go the Red Carpet Event which was the Magic Mike XXL Premier in Leicester Square. They could probably walk there in 10 minutes but would probably get mobbed hence the chauffeur driven option.
What was she like to photograph
I have only photographed this woman once and it was in Central London. She had just married Johnny Depp some months ago and it was mega hot news at the time. So she was hot stuff and incredibly news worthy. The tactics were no flash, manual focus lens taped up at about 1.5m and focused on a particular spot that she would pass, shoot at wide angle and aperture at F8 all the way and set the camera at the highest frame rate. When she comes out just hold the button down in machine gun mode and hope for the best.
This photo is one of the better ones. It was hot, incredibly bright. I think Christian Bale came out first, then the Director then another lesser known actor then nothing for a few minutes. Then she came flying out with this red dress and Cleopatra make up, I just held the button down, hoped for the best. She came past and was so close I could feel her dress touching my arm and then this strong waft of expensive perfume hung in the air afterwards. I turned round saw her at the car (some big Black Merc) she waved to the crowds screaming like maniacs, the traffic had come to a stand still with at least 100 more like 200 or so people standing in the road and traffic tailing back . She got in the car as cool as a cucumber and off she went to Leicester Square.
The Photo Technically?
Not the best photo I have ever taken but she is there, she is looking good, but horrific lighting (see shoulder, split lighting on face, somebody got in the way fractionally bottom left of the frame, an annoying stray hair, no eye contact.......but who cares it just seems to work AND....it's Amber Heard!
Personality
Only met her once so difficult to say. She seemed a cool customer on leaving the hotel with a huge dash of smouldering on first impressions. Charismatic, drop dead gorgeous and if her perfume is anything to go by......she could be a bit of a handful...but what do I know. She is an actress and these people are like chameleons, they are difficult to pin down personality wise, but just on first impressions, the speed she came flying out of that hotel like a bolt of lightning.....at the very least......I would say she is a bit of a handful?
