Name: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Occupation: Model and Actress

Another dynamic character and that is Rosie Huntington Whiteley. Where do you begin? Born in Plymouth in Devon raised on a farm in Devon so she comes from a very rural and earthy background but with looks like this life had other plans for her along the lines of being propelled into the stratosphere in the world of modelling and later becoming an actress playing action roles and moving in Hollywood circles. London was the catalyst.

She is primarily known for modelling for massive lingerie company Victoria's Secret and was one of the Angels. She is also known for replacing Megan Fox in the upcoming Transformers Movie sequel in 2011!!!!! This was when she was voted FHM's sexiest woman in 2011 out of a global top 100! Remember writing about this when I was a celebrity blogger before this celebrity photography game. Remember the cursor hovering over the publish button and hesitating to press that button....wary that the server would go down.....such was the magnitude of that announcement. Thousands upon thousands came within minutes, smoke came out of the back of the server....but it stayed up............ but only just.

That's what we have here. A Lister....for sure. Now in 2025 she is up their with the Kendal Jenner's and the Cara Delevingne's. She has 21M followers on Insta. She has come a long way since her Devon Farm Days but I get the impression she is acutely aware that your time in the modelling game is comparatively short. Make hay while the sun shines and have other irons in the fire.

She is represented by the Creative Arts Agency in New York and LA

The photo and behind the scenes

I have only met and photographed her once and that was at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards held in Berkeley Square, Mayfair in Central London.

I remember she came flying out of that car on a mission looking left, right playing hard to get as she headed towards the photographers pen. I said three words "Rosie....Rosie...Rosie" she looked with that lock and load look she has. Remember thinking "Frank you are on her radar, hold that shutter down until the flash dies..... forget the recycle times Here's the result. Shots after that she has a lamp post sticking out of her head with a Yellow No Parking sign. Hence why i had to get the former shot.

She walks left foot in front of right in front of left, chin level with the ground, swinging hips and a steely look to match. All catwalk and model stuff of A Lister territory.

The Look

Glimmer of a smile seems to be her trademark. She is a bold dresser but laced with some classy sophistication. To wear Red takes confidence and some guts and she has both. A lot of the media class her as an English Rose type and she is well spoken and her look reflects this. She has a presence about her and comes across as a determined type, she reminds me of another A Lister very much indeed..... more on that later.

Personality

Time spent photographing and meeting this woman at an awards event. Probably 20 seconds. Can you form an opinion on her personality in that time not really BUT first impressions she comes across as "fast" and a "driven" on a "mission" type of person. The way she came out of that car and flying towards the photographers pen was ballistic. I think if you got in her way you would probably be knocked flying. confidence....... she has that in abundance.

Reading her Wiki at Wikipedia bears all these first impressions out. There is a lot of energy, determination and urgency within those words. She is on a mission, many things to do and achieve, time is short and I think she loves the challenge and she knows beauty and youth lasts but for a short time.

I get the impression she is one of those "I will succeed" types and does.......... sometimes against all odds.

Her journey has taken her to Victoria's Secret then onto Burberry then onto Vogue. then onto Karen Millen. then onto the Pirelli Calendar . then onto Prada then onto Giles Deacon then breaking into the world of film.... Transformers that will do nicely deposing Megan Fox......Megan Fox for crying out loud... in the process. WHAT THE... I could go on here but you get the idea.

The photographer Rankin also did a whole photo book devoted to her called "Ten Times Rosie"

Reading the Wiki I seemed to see some remarkable similarities between her and Maria Sharapova. Lots of energy, driven, ambitious, very focused and loves a challenge. Maria Sharapova was born on 19 April and Rosie Huntington Whiteley was born on 18 April. Not only that they were both born in the same year as in 1987. Coincidence or something more? Both A Listers but in different fields but the similarities are there to be seen.

She has lived in the States with her husband Actor Jason Statham but they have returned to London in the UK to give their kids a British upbringing. You can't fight your roots. Who knows in later life she may go back to Devon and buy a farm, sort of full circle?

What's next for this one who knows? Thinking she would look good on the front page of the Frank John website. Mmmmmm?
